Restoration

I start with a high resolution scan of the photograph, converting it to digital form at the highest detail.

Next, I adjust the brightness and contrast

Then, it's a long process of removing every scratch, blotch and blemish, to restore the photo to its original appearance.

Finally I crop, straighten and even hand-tint the photo, before printing it on high-quality matte or gloss paper.

Restoration in close-up

The initial correction can bring a surprising amout of visual garbage - dirt, scratches, and so on - to light.

I carefully retouch the photo by hand, removing the dirt without destroying the details.

No automated computer program can do this.

I make images better.
